| This hand chased butter dish is maked as you see above, the Dominick & Haff Logo or Trade Mark (this has the 925 for sterling in the square and 1886 in the diamond), Bailey Banks & Biddle, there is a number but it is worn off and the Bailey Banks & Biddle sterling mark (an S in a shield inside an oval, 925 in a larger shield and BBB in an oval). These Bailey Banks & Biddle marks date this piece from 1878 to1894.
It is 8" diiameter at the widest part, the bottom is 3 5/8" in diameter, and the lid is 5" in diameter. The insert is good quality silver plate and is 4 7/8" in diameter. The overall height is 5". The weight of the two sterling parts is 20 regular ounces.
This piece is hand chased. It is in excellent condition. There is a monogram which is more of a work of art than a monogram. I really can't tell you what the letters are. You can see then pretty well in the picture maybe you can tell what they are.
